Nakakairita, nakakabanas, nakakainis

Hindi ako pumasok yesterday dahil andami kong excess baggagge. I feel like I'm so exhausted. Physically, I feel so worn out dahil sa sobrang dami kong ginagawa. haven't got the chance to study yet. Mentally, andami kong iniisip. Naiwan ko pa yung thesis na pinagkatiwala samin ng thesis adviser namin sa ilalim ng desk ko, I was so worried. Emotionally, overloaded nako. Namatay yung yaya ko na nag-alaga saken since I was a child.

I'm so exhausted na ako nalang lagi. I'm just sick and tired of always initiating things.

Engr. Winston R. Wang and Engr. Rudi U. Dimayacyac

I arrived at the Medicine Auditorium during Engr. Rudi Dimayacyac's talk. I found it very informative. Although I must admit that I didn't see myself at all in any of the things that he explained which is the prime reason that I asked that question (read below). I was actually sleepy during the event. This is because I had my PE earlier and I slept for only 3 hrs before that. Good thing we had great speakers and I didn't fell asleep. Oh, Engr. Rudi Dimayacyac is based in Beijing, China and he works in Procter and Gamble in that country.

It was then Engr. Winston Wang's turn for his talk. He shared a brief discussion to what a Chemical Engineering student should have. I'm happy to say that I have leadership skills as Engr. Wang stressed. Although I was never an office rof any recognized organization, my leadership skills are if not better are at par with those in position. Engr. Wang works in Shell at the Panadacan Industrial zone.

Of course there was the open forum where the students were allowed to ask questions to the speaker. As usual, I am one of those who were "compelled" to ask a question. But this time, i was not compelled, I really want to ask a question. In this case, questions. I asked a question for each speaker. But 1st I introduced myself.

"Good morning Sirs, I am Wilbert de Guzman, one of the pride of 5ChE-A"

I don't know why but the crowd started clapping. 1st, I want to explain why my introduction is like that. I always introduce myself like that. When I join contests I always say that. But this time around this is not a contest. But I consider everyone in our section as a pride. Hence, I said one of the pride, because all of the members of 5ChE-A is a pride of our class.

1st, I asked Engr. Dimayacyac:
"I'm actually one of the few student-leaders who works outside of ChES, as early as now my skills are more in speaking and writing, what would be the most suitable work for me if I were to wark in a corporate setting?"

He said that having those skills in job applications will not merit an advantage but if I was hired, it will become a very good advantage in the workplace and will go along the way in my work.

finally, I asked Engr. Wang:
"I'm a Manileño whose aware of the issues that the Pandacan is facing today. What is your stand in the issue, and why do you think are the people against the oil depots?"

I love what Engr. Wang answered to my question. We had concurrence of ideas. I feel like I hit the bulls eye when he nodded his headed in approval when I answered his question back.

I don't regret going there at all, and I wish next time I will be the one giving the orientation. Hihi! =D

I so love news shows!

3 movies galore

Nung naconfine yung mom ko because of Pneumonia, nagovernight ako sa ospital. Meron akong tatlong movies na napanood, I'll discuss them one by one.

Speed Racer

10,000 BC
"It's a waste of time and money." I totally agree! Wala akong napala nung pinanood ko to. Basta ang pangit.

Rendition
Ay naloka ako sa movie na ito. It's about torture of a suspected terrorist. Naloka ako kasi, alam nyo ba kung bakit sya naging suspected terrorist? Dahil isa syang Chemical Engineer. !!! Eh course ko yun eh! Nagkataon lang na he's originally from Egypt. Since Egypt is also Muslim country, naging parang "logical" sa mga Kano na suspect sya. I really loved the movie kasi ang ganda nung flow nung story. At yung ginawa nilang suicide bomber eh binatilyo which is really somehow true literally and figuratively. Naloka ako sa torture scene. Mega kuryente. Kalerkey! Katakot tuloy maging Chemical Engineer! Chos!

Speed Racer
Eto sila:

Speed Racer played by Emile Hirsch

Rex Racer played by Scott Porter

Racer X played by Matthew Fox

"Wilberta... Wilberta... Wilberta..." Palakas ng palakas. "Wilberta! Wilberta! Wilberta!" Sigaw ng lalaki. Hanggang sa may kumalabog...

"Wilbert!", bumalik sa katinuan ang baklang Wilberta. "Wilbert!

Super mega effort talaga lahat ng staff except for me.

I'd rather sacrifice kesa naman masira pa yung supposedly eh happy day ni JarJar. In the end no show naman yun, so nagsaya na ako all the way.

aborted ultimatum

JULY 04, 2009

ENGR. CECILIA ESPINOSA
Chemical Engineering Department Chair
Faculty of Engineering

Dear Engr. Espinosa,

Greetings in the name of St. Thomas Aquinas!

Our class, 5ChE-A, was informed yesterday that our Engineering Management course’s (GE302) schedule was moved from Saturday 10AM to 1PM, to Saturday 6PM to 9PM. We would like to express our reprehension towards this immediate change of schedule without prior consultation with our class. Also, we would like express our intention to petition the schedule of the said course to be moved on a more convenient time for the majority of the class members based on the following grounds:

  • Most of the class members who live in the provinces return to their domicile over the weekend. The current schedule shall impair this luxury, for they shall be forced to stay in school until 9PM every Saturday.
  • Half of the class is of female composition. There has been a case wherein a female member of the class has been harassed while going home one night. The addition of another night to the class schedule would mean another night of exposure to the danger of the streets to this female or to the female members in general.
  • We were given the liberty to choose our section during the pre-sectioning day prior to the start of the classes. We chose 5ChE-A as our section because the pre-made schedule for this section is the most convenient for our different activities whether social, extra-curricular, personal, etc.

In line with our petition, kindly consider the following as an alternative to the current schedule:

  • Every Tuesday and Wednesday, our class has straight 4-5 hrs inbetween breaks. It would be more convenient for us if GE302 will be moved in these time allotment.
  • Revert to the original schedule.

Attached herewith is the list of names and signatures of the class members.

We are seeking your kind approval of our petition. Thank You!

Respectfully yours,

MEMBERS OF THE 5ChE-A CLASS

This is the petition letter that I made in behalf of the class so as to change the current schedule of our Engineering Management course. I wasn’t around yesterday because of the Staff Application Interview of the Central Student Council, of which I am a committee director. I learned that the whole class signed the said petition letter and was ready to give it to the authorities. Unfortunately, something happened during the said course and the class ultimately decided to just accept the given schedule.

Student’s Rights
This is exactly the reason why the Magna Carta for Student Rights, more popularly known as the Students’ Code, should be ratified. I simply find what happened to our class unjust. This, and loads more that I have written before here in my blog. We were not consulted prior to the change. We were all shocked, especially me that I heard GA instead of GE, about the new schedule. If the Students’ Code is ratified, this shall give a pro-student approach. This shall give the chance to the students to participate in policy making decisions. I don’t know if the new CSC Administration will revise the Students’ Code. But what I do know is that the current draft to put it simply is students first. I believe in this statement very much considering that the students ARE the STAKEHOLDERS of the UNIVERSITY. If the Students’ Code was ratified as it should be, this incident would never have happened.

Wilberchie’s point of view
There was the 2nd semester. There was the summer break. There was the late start of classes. There was the 1st week of classes. There was the one week suspension of classes. I think that these are ample time to find a suitable instructor for the given pre-made schedule. More so, Engineering Management is a General Engineering course, hence the shortcut GE. This means that other departments are also offering the same course. Since this is a General subject for all majors, why not get someone not from our own department? Also, since section B is from 7-10AM, what’s wrong with our original schedule of 10AM-1PM? Honestly, the current schedule is impairing my social life. And it SUCKS! Big time!

Thank you to all my classmates who trusted my ability to draft this petition letter. Always remember that my loyalty will always be yours! I love you all! MwWAHAHHA!

TP4 in Varsi!

Anyway, this post is not about that. Its about dun sa little description ngisang project sa dulo. I have lifted the paragraph that describes TP4, it goes:

This year's incoming Central Board will also continue the tHomasian Project 4(TP4), an academic outreach program led by the CSC in coordination with UST Central Pax Romana, UST Scarlet Central, and Rotaract UST. This aims to help financially challenged but deserving public school students go to college. TP4 has 9 working scholars in the University.

Kahit pa mali yung number of scholars na sinabi nila. The mere mention of TP4 is enough pero may description pah! Sana next time, full feature nah! gogogo!
