And they call me Tito...

Many people are shocked when they find out that I preferred to be called Tito by my nephews and nieces. It's really not much of deal. I just like it that way. But upon thinking about, I think I know why.

Hmmm... I guess I am still a male figure in the family. I'm still the younger "brother" and that corresponds to being the Tito for my nephews and nieces. It doesn't bother me at all since I don't want them to be confused. I'm all for the gender identity thing, but I want my nephews and nieces first to learn the differences between male and female are before they explore the complexity of my sexual preference.

Think of it like this, I want them first to learn one plus one before I teach them how to solve the square root of nine-four-nine-point-seven-five plus the cube root of one-zero-four-point-six-three all over forty seven.

I am my own identity and I'm sure they have there own version of what my identity is for them. Probably, the tito who tutors them in their english, math, and science subjects.

Buses and Trains
by Bachelor Girl

kakaloka yung nangyari kanina! May Bachelor girl moment ako may mother dearest!

My thoughts exactly! At humirit pah!

Sasuke and Itachi Uchiha

I finally was able to watch the battle between the two brothers, Sasuke and Itachi Uchiha. My gosh! I cried horribly during episode 141 when Madara is narrating the true story behind Itachi's conquests. In the end, he did everything for the sake of his little brother. Even at the expense of his own reputation. Kalerkaley!

The episode inspired me to write about my own big brother. I don't know. I just had the urge to write about it. Maybe I am not too vocal of what I really feel towards him, or towards his actions. But my hands are itching to type what I'm thinking! hihi! I have two big brothers (actually three if you count the other one). The one I'm pertaining to is the one whom I followed, the one who is now a doctor.

The earliest memory that I have of my big brother is in our kitchen sink. I was sitting on top of the lavatory, while he was standing in front of me. I don't remember what age I was when this happened but I remember him brushing my teeth while singing "Pasikot sikot tatsulok". He was doing round motions with the toothbrush. This is also the 1st time he showed me how to gargle. Of course, I remember that I wasn't able to do it and he was laughing like mad.

I used to play indoor games with him along with our Big sister. The games that we played together if I remember correctly are: Dominoes, Uno Cards, Millionaires Game, Dama, and Jackstones. I really really remember that we played jackstones because he is very talented in the exhibition part! I swear!

There are two instances that I remember that I celebrated my birthday with him as kid. The 1st one is actually the 1st time that I met his then girlfriend (now his wife). We watched the animated movie Hercules in Tutuban Silverscreen. The 2nd one is when they took me to Dreamscape in Robinsons Galleria where they paid for my Ride-All-You-can pass.

But being his brother is not always that happy. I actually grew up in his shadow. People had the notion that since he took up medicine, I will as well. Since he is the best, they expected me to be the best too. Maybe that's the reason that my parents where strict when I was a kid when it comes to academics. I was forced to excel because I need to be at par with my brother. Well, sorry for them, but after I hit puberty they can't force me to do what I don't want to do. I knew what I want, I have moral standards and I know how to take care of myself, uhmm.. sometimes! whahaah!

I find it very funny that when I do something stupid, my big brother is usually the one to take me out of it. Like when I skipped my PE class during my one year of stay in UST Pay High. Also, I think he's my mom's secret weapon when I'm being stubborn. She usually asks him to talk to me. Yep, and I usually listen. Usually. Wihi!

The only time that I remember that I cried because of my Big Brother was not too long ago. When he finally confirmed that I am a homosexual, I felt as though he rejected me. Maybe he wasn't expecting to confirm it or what, I just felt that he had a change of heart. There was this instance that I thought that he doesn't want me near his kid in the fear of infecting his son. I think I cried myself to sleep that night if I remember correctly. Well, that's the past. I don't feel that right now and I'm certain that he doesn't feel that way now.

Things that my Big Brother taught me
  • Never Litter - there was this time that I threw a candy wrapper in a pile of trash, he scolded me. He said that it's already dirty, why would I make it dirtier (by simply adding another candy wrapper).
  • Think outside of the box - He answered the word problems in my algebra book when I was in high school. He said it was his favorite topic in algebra, and he showed me some techniques too!
  • Never let anyone dirty your name - if you need to fight then fight for it. As long as you will fight with dignity and without malice. Yeah, I followed this, that's why I didn't let those political backstabbing stop me from being who I am.
Yeah. I'm his little brother. The cry baby no more. But still as stubborn as ever! hihi!!!

A Tribute to Melissa

Photobucket

Last night while I was busy reading The Associate by John Grisham, I suddenly remembered a cousin of mine. She suddenly struck my mind because for some unknown reason I remembered that June is her birth month. I smiled, but quickly frowned, because I know, I can't talk to her anymore. she's already gone...

Melissa De Guzman, or Isang as we normally call her, is not just a cousin for me. She's was my 1st friend, my protector, my partner. While I was busy being the crybaby, she was busy being the shield for me. She was always the braver one, the louder one, the confident one which is opposite of me, the shyer, the less-confident, the pusong-mamon one. All my pictures when I was little would either be I am a baby or I had a picture with her. Since we were of the same age (we are both born on 1988 she was in June and I'm a month after), we are sort of twins, we had matching jackets. Matching smiles. We even have a picture where we are abays in a wedding. We were partners there too!

We used to play at the De Guzman compound. sometimes we play at their house or ours. She was always a playmate for games like piko, ten twenty, part one, part 2, jump rope, paper dolls, pog, text, etc. We even devised our own game that we called Ten-Twenty 2. She was the one who taught me, although not properly, do a cartwheel. This because it was part of the game chinese garter.

During the puberty stage, I became even shyer and didn't go out even to play. I normally come out when I was doing an errand or simply going to school (the effect of having cable TV!). That's the time where we went our separate ways. Our communication officially severed when we entered high school. I entered UST Pay High, her... I don't know. When I was kicked out from UST Pay High, I heard she got pregnant. That's the De Guzman Hormones for you! After that, I just see her during occasions like Xmas, Lolo's Birthday, or New Year's celebration where she usually hold a patpat with a katol at one end for lighting 5 stars. And Oh! I'm a god parent of her "son".

One distinct trait that I remember of Isang is her love for dogs. I remember one time when we are both asked to be godparents to one of Ate Chat's son (i think its onse), the jeep that we were riding ran over a dog. She almost cried when she heard the hurtful cries of the dog. I wanted to show of by stating the names of her dog but I'm sorry I'm not good with names. But I think there was this dog named Fritz?

I found out that she's gone when my mother walk in my room and called my Ate Grace to tell her the news. I was up all night with a friend during that time. I was of course shocked. Hello? we are the same age! how can someone our age die? But when her body arrived, I had no choice but to believe it. I heard Ate Lemon did her make up and gave her her gown.I refused to see her and go to her wake. I was afraid I will cry. But when I finally had the courage to walk up to her coffin, Tita Marie went with me. I looked at her lengthwise, then smile and said, "Nagmumura naman yung bulaklak ni Isang! Minumura ako eh! Pink ako!" and we laughed. It gave somehow a small smile in a mother's grieving heart.

I still didn't cry. I didn't even cry when she was cremated, maybe I was still oblivious of the fact that she moved on already. Despite all the negative chikas I heard about her,I still think that she is that sweet little girl I used to play with. It's just that, she just chose too soon, and the effect of alcohol in her blood is too much. If there would be a chance that I would be able to talk to her, I will tell her how much I care for her and don't she worry, I'll love her "son" as much as she would want to.

Ate Grace with the Little Debutante, Nicole

On that same day, ginanap ang 7th birthday party nya sa covered court ng Holy Child Catholic School (Alma Mater namin parepareho!). Well anyway, ako yung Emcee nun. Kaso yung crowd hindi naman nakikinig. Hindi ko naman sila masisi, because after all, it's a children's party!

Even though we had a rough night, dahil andming aberyang nangyari. Si Nica ayaw magsmile. Ang gugulo ng mga bata. Yung caterer nalate, yung food nagkulang. Kainis! Well anyaway ta least tapos na yun.

Pumunta kami dun in celebration for our mother's birthday. Nanlibre si Kuya. We ate at a resturant called Gumbo.

May 2 arcade, timezone tska Tom's World pero too bad pareho silang walang Paraparadise. Kainis. Wehehehehehe. Gwapo eh!

De Guzman

Introduction
Ayan, Oli, Mapagbibigyan ko na yung hiling mo so long time ago, magsusulat ako tungkol sken. Sana basahin mo at magustuhan mo ok?

Pudra
Ang full name ni Pudra ay Roberto Fojas de Guzman Sr. pero most people would call him "Tate". Sya ngayon yung incumbent Barangay Captian namen. Kakapanalo lang nya ulet. Natalo sya nung last last elections. Well honestly alam namin na nagkabayaran but we still didn't fret. After nun, parang nagkaron ng curse yung Captain post. Kasi sunod sunod na namatay yung mga Barangay Captains who succeeded my dad. Eh kahit kami parang nachorva dun ano! Time space warp! From Pacheco to then our lolo's house, just to give you a picture, Pacheco is from Engineering building to the church. Wilbert's Fish Dealer! Kaso through the years, bumagsak na yung business na yun. Pero infairnalou, hindi ako nahihiya na tinapa ang business namin, I would proudly say it to anyone, because tinapa ang nagpakain at nagpaaral sa akin. Ever since I was a kid, until this January, sanay na kong hindi natutulog sa bahay si Pudra.
As in malakas talaga! Nung elementary ako, whole day yung klase ko. So hindi ko talaga sya nakakasama, tuwing weekends sana.
Alam nyo ba mas fashionista pa saken yung dad ko? Mas marami pang damit saken yun. Well I understand naman, kasi nga, hindi naman nya kasi naranasan yun nung bata sya. Kaya ok lang. Meron yung designer pants, ako nga 2 lang yun marami. Mga polo nun superb class! Kaloka!
Yung movie ni FPJ na Pitong Gatang (which is the name of the street that we live in) ginamit nila yung kamalig namin before for shooting some scenes.

Pumunta sya dito sa Manila with her sister Tita Lolit para makipagsapalaran. Sa kabutihang palad. Nakapasok sila as maids sa De Guzman household. Ayun! Where majority of our clan originated). They stayed there daw ng 2 weeks. Possibly baka dun na nabuo si Ate. Nyahahahahah! Si Mudra, away bati kami nyan eh. Marami kaming pinagkakasunduan nyan. Primarily because sya yung lagi kong kasama sa bahay. Pareho kaming certified Kapuso! I have an excerpt of that memory! Brownout nga samin nun nung nagdramahan kami! Ang ayoko lang kay mom eh she treats me na bata pa rin ako. Well, siguro bunso ako. Pero Dyos me! Magbebente nako! Right now sya yung president ng Catholic Women's League Tondo Chapter. Big time ang lola mo! Paseminar seminar pah! Wahahahahaha! Bonus! Ang Mudra ko may asim pah! At the age of 56, nireregla pa ang lola! Antaray!

Ate Grace
Si Ate Grace, ang panganay, bow. Her fullname now is Grace de Guzman delos Santos. Wahahahah! At tsaka dati nung sa bahay pa sya nakatira. Lagi akong may pasalubong. Naalala ko uso pa yung pager nun. Lagi akong nagpepage sa kanya. Alam mo naman bata, syempre makulit! Nyahahahaha! Almost two decades na yung agwat namin anoh! Uso pa nung time nya si Tiffany, wholesome pah. eh ngayon si Britney Spears, nude photo drugs sex and everything. Diba? totally anlayo na talaga! But I do remember na una akong nakasakay ng LRT with her, dahil dinala nya ako sa office nila before (Hindi pa uso medicard nun). 1st ever Glorietta, and many things na pambata na naexperience ko dahil kay Ate.

Eh to think wala naman syang tinapos. Ay meron pala! Nag-aral sya maging seaman! As of now, nagtatrabaho sya sa Manila City hall as ewan ko.. I lost track na kung ano gawain nya dun.

Kuya Argie
My closest brother, Mr. Roberto Nicolas de Guzman, Jr. Masasabi kong he's the best sa aming magkakapatid. A consistent honor student from Elementary to high school. He joined and won many intra- and inter-school competitions. Graduate sya ng UST-Pay High School. He has a degree in Medical Technology and he took up Medicine also in UST, right now, a doctor in UST Hospital, Metropolitan Hospital, Perpetual Succor Maternity Clinic, and St. Luke's General Hospital. Grabeh. Ewan ko ba sa kuya kong yan. Hanggang ngayon hindi pa rin tapos mag-aral. Not that his failing or something. Andami nya kasi talagang pinag-aaralan. Oh Well.
Time Space Warp! 13 years old sya nun. Wahahahahah! Hormones! Wahahahaha! Pero he got over that and became my big brother. Sa kanya talaga ako close. Dito naman kay kuya Argie yung mga first time na pangpre-teener. Magmall mag-isa, maging member ng isang arcade and the like.
Ay may naalala ako! Mga Grade 3 siguro ako nun, mga 9 years old. Edi dumugo in many places dun, pabilog. Nagalit kuya ko! "Anong ginagawa mo? Hindi ganyan kumuha ng blood sample!" Nakakaloka talaga yun! Pinakalma lang sya ni mom. Hyper mode yun eh.
Gay daw. Whheheheh. Lagi din syang Class president. Tapos he was elected as UST Central Student Council President nung senior year nya as Med Tech. Student. Antaray dba! Eh ako TP4 Coordinator lang! Under lang ng Pres!
Present. Kinasal sya nung Dec. 9, 2007 sa UST Church with Ate Millie, yung long time Girlfriend nya. Just recently, he was proclaimed as Best Fellow Doctor in the Philippines. Kalerkey!

Extension
OKay so my dad's not perfect.
Mga 9 years old ako nun. Ayun, narinnig kong sinasabi ni mom yun to my Tita Inday. Minsan nasasalubong ko sya, but I'm too busy to entertain him. There was atime na nandun sya sa compound. Nandun yung ibang pinsan "namin", napag-usapan nga yung tungkol dun. Grabeh naiyak na si RJ nun. Kasi nga kinukwento nya na our father signed his birth certificate, nung graduation da wnya nung elementary binigyan sya ng datung. Mga chorvang ganun. Finally, mas matanda sya saken kaso hindi ko lam kung how much.

Meron pa akong 2 pah. Kambal silang girls.

Hmmmp. Nasan kya sya ngayon?

Woohoo!

My Dad won in the Barangay Elections as Chairman! It was a landslide victory! My Dad got a total of 653 votes with the total turn out of votes of 1179. Even with the combined votes of his opponents they don't have a chance! wahahahah! I'm so happy! It's about time that Barangay 80 Zone 7 have a competent and compassionate leader. It's not that he's my Dad. It's just that all of his successors didn't do half as much as he did when he was in power. Look at the our Barangay Hall. When I last went there, there is a big room that would welcome you. But now, my dad told me that the Big room is now in portions and is divided by walls. Our Daycare center, which was complete with two air conditioning units and 3 electric fans, 2 ceiling fans and 1 stand fan, are now all missing in the daycare. It is left with an exhaust fan. Can you imagine how hot is it in there? I can't believe that it is used as a classroom for prep students. Super init dun!

Goodluck that! And congratulations! I'm proud of you!

Kuya Argie

Sunday eating
Yesterday, I wasn't able to watch Boys Next Door because my Doc Kuya called and invited our mom and I to eat at SM. At first, I don't want to go because I'll miss an episode. But in the end my mom won in persuading me. So I took a bath and we're off to SM. We both wore red-colored clothes, and to our suprise Kuya was also wearing red! So we went shopping then proceeded eating at Flavors of China.

The meal
Delicious! nothing more!

Trips abroad
This October, Kuya is flying to Japan because his paper was chosen. And he wants me to make his presentation paraphernalia! His ppt and everything! My goodness it will be shown in Japan! I'm really pressured! I hope I can do it! He has another trip. He will be in India for 8 months after his wedding because he's going to train there.
