Wilberchie's Board Exam Experience Part 2

You can read the 1st part here.

Haru dyos ko! One year in the making ang sequel ng aking board exam experience! Wahahahha!!! Paxenxa na kasi for the longest time kasi wala akong time dahil nagwowork ako.

Alright! Lesgehitowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwn!!!

You have 6 hrs to answer 100 questions.

Normally eto yung mga Identifications at Fill in the Blanks.

If A = B and B = C, What is C2=AB?
a.Ab.B
c.A or Bd.None of the above

Panis diba? Maniniwala ba kayo kung sasabihin kong This is an actually board problem? Yes, this was a question nung nagtake ako.

IMPORTANT!!!
Isang beses lang basahin ang question. Tapos pag nagfall sa mga scenarios na ito ang nangyari after mo bashain ang question, jump to the next item:
(1) Kelangan isolve ang sagot
(2) Hindi mo naintindihan yung question
(3) Hindi mo alam yung sagot
(4) Hindi ka sure sa sagot

Isang very very useful tip.
>>>>>Idouble check ulet yung number, importante to!!!
>>>>>Ishade na ang sagot.

Since puro bilog bilog lang kasi makikita mo dun sa answer card, nakakalito talaga, kaya idouble check lagi bago magshade. Ako na nagsasabi, mahirap burahin ang mongol 2. Pwamis!!!

End of questionnaire? Go back to start!

3rd reading.

This happened to me!

[2] By Trial and Error - Refer to the 21-gon diagonal example from Part 1.

[3] By Back-Substitution - Parang ang unethical noh? Well, that's the downside of multiple choice. One of them is the true answer, you just need to use them all. Given na may oras ka. Dito pumapasok yung pagiging mabilis mo sa 1st and 2nd reading.

Pano mo malalaman? Instinct and Intuition.

[5] By Reading - Yes, you read it right!

Isulat mo din yun sa scratch mo with the caption: TENTATIVE POINTS.

Tandaan na mag-ingat sa pagsheshade ah!!!

Tapos na ulet? You know the Drill!!! Isa pa!!!

Homily. Ginamit mo na yung 5 ways to get the answer sa last reading pero wa epek. In other words, HULAAN MO NAH!!!! Dito na pumapasok yung Chamba factor!

GOGOGOGOGOGOOGOGO!!!

30% Chemical and Physical Principles
40% Chemical Engineering Principles
30% General Engineering Principles

At para makapasa, kelangan ang grades mo sa lahat ng exam ay greater than or equal to 50%, tapos yung average nung tatlo ay more than or equal to 70%.

i-solve ang iyong Theoretical grades - Sure Average at Tentative Average
Day 1 + Day 2 + Day 3
SP
or
TP
(0.3)
SP
or
TP
_(5)(0.4)_
4
SP
or
TP
(0.3)
= SURE AVERAGE or TENTATIVE AVERAGE

hmmmp... Sure Average ko ay 65.7. Tentative average ko ay 86.1.

Ang Grade ko ay...

In between ng dalawang yan! Whahahahahh!!!

Random tips!!!
In general stringent sa Sharp brands.
Laktawan. Intayin ang announcement. Pag malapit na matapos ang time, i-treat as (3) scenario question.
- Iwasan sumagot ng letter E. Trick letter yun.
- Kumaen pag gutom. Pwedeng kumen pag nageexam. Ako nga Egg and ham clubhouse sandwich ang dala ko at Jungle Juice! Elementary ang Peg!
- wag kabahan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sayang sa oras kung mag-C-CR ka pa on the exam time.
- Wag nang mag-aral before the 1st day of exam and after the 1st and 2nd day. Magrelax. Matulog ng maaga. Walang idudulot ang pagcracram mo kundi kaba.
- Dumating ng maaga sa venue. Mas mawawala ang kaba mo.
- Wag nang magpapalit palit ng sagot. Nagiging sanhi yan ng pagkabagsak.
- Please read my article regarding the Legend of Uncertainty Principle: Totoo ba ang When in doubt, choose b or c'?

Goodluck Future Chemical Engineers!

Photobucket
Sigurado ako by now, may nakapagsabi na sayo yung technique na ginagawa nila pag multiple choice yung exam. Most likely, eto yun:
When in doubt, choose b or c.

In an attempt to prove the theory na may preference yung pag-automate sa b and c na answer...
-Gumawa ako ng program na nagrarandomize ng number from 1 to 4. 1 represents a, 2 for b, 3 for c and 4 for d. Simulating yung correct letter of answer.
-I made it to simulate the board exam na gumagawa ng 100 questions.
-1 batch = 1 run of the program
-I took 5 batches.

Eto yung source code: Click on the Text Area, press CTRL+A, then CTRL+C to copy the source code

Eto ang results...

Data
Photobucket
so ayan sa taas yung 5 batches ng data

Mean and Median
Photobucket
So as you can see, sa limang batches ng 50 exams, magkakalapit lang yung mean at median nung apat na sagot.

Relative Frequency Distribution
Photobucket
In general, pinakacommon yung 21-25 number range for all choices. Pumapangalawa yung 26-30. Or baliktad dun sa iba. Pero pwede natin maconclude na mataas yung frequency from the 21-30 range. Population mean is 25.5, so safe assumption na 25 questions na ang sagot ay isa sa choices out of 100 questions. Tig te-25 ang a, b, c at d.

Conclusion

Meron akong theory kung totoo man yung preference sa b and c. Pag hindi automated or manual yung pag sulat nung choices, ang mindset, itago sya sa gitna, which are b and c.

Eto yung human factor in making the exam.

Congratulations!

I would like to congratulate everyone who passed the recent June 2012 Nursing Licensure Exams! You deserve it whoever you are or wherever school you're from. Ang galing nyo!

I'm anticipating a full sized banner on my alma mater's Medicine Building Facade congratulating the Top Students of the Nursing Board, as well as the large chunk percentage of passers in the said exam.

Call me bitter, but its true. While I, together with my co-passers in the April 2011 Chemical Engineering Licensure examination, didn't even get a greeting from our own Faculty; Moreso from our own department.

I understand that the May 2011 Exams results were far from ideal. We failed to occupy any top spot and also only had 55 passing percentage. Still, it would have been fulfilling to be acknowledged nonetheless.

Buti nga yung November 2010 Passers, narecognize. They were called upon to provide testimonials on how they passed the board, which is a continuous project of the Chemical Engineering Society. I was there of course, to support those who will give their testimonials: Engr. Granada, Engr. Villanueva, Engr. Ramos, Engr. Abaricia, and of course, Engr. Dayao and to congratulate those who passed the board who were present.

I don't grasp the idea why there is stigma attached in passing the board in April. They say that the April exam is easier as compared to the November exam. But does this heresay constitute their right to disregard our accomplishments?

A person I idolize passed the April 2009 Chemical Engineering Licensure Examination. She brought back the bacon by bagging the the 9th highest score. But come School Year 2009-2010, virtually no one in the Faculty know that fact except those who are part of our department.

Nakakatawa! She's a member of our Faculty, yet she wasn't even recognized by mere mention of her name at the start of the first term. It was only when she was asked to take part in the testimonial that she was given the limelight. I know for a fact that our department didn't procure expenses for her congratulatory banner. I know who shelved money for it. I know because I was the one who edited the banner. (yes it's crappy I know!)

This is the first time that I would express the following statements into words so bear with me. These are my personal preparation from the the time I took my board.

When I took my board, I targeted the top. I wanted to claim the top spot for myself. That was my inspiration to study. Despite my busy schedule two months prior to the exam, I was still eager to read and review most of the topics. Please read this part for all the things that I read. I attended the testimonial so I can garner tips from the passers. I research on the fields about the members of the Board of Chemical Engineering's careers so I will have idea on what ChE technology they will focus on (epic fail). I enrolled in the refresher course despite the busy schedule; All in preparation to the top. But the exam had proven itself to be difficult (and out of this world) and as you know, I failed to take the spot, or any spots nine ranks below it. But I pride myself that at the end of the day, I was fortunate enough to pass the exam.

Putting my personal bitterness aside, I feel that acknowledging all of the passers would have been very meaningful. Some of us failed the earlier exam and retook it that April. It took them double the pressure, double the paranoia, and double the payment to pass the exam. Acknowledging them by simply saying that single word, "Congratulations", was enough to establish that sense of pride that despite of the earlier failure, they had come full circle and had reached the end of the 2nd hurdle of the Chemical Engineering journey. (the 1st one being, graduating) It is especially fulfilling if it comes from your mentors.

I only had two professors who conveyed their congratulatory greetings that summer of 2011. My thesis adviser, and my perennial Lab Professor (She was my 3 time lab teacher during the last 2 years). It is inexplicable how much those words mean to me. I am still very grateful for their words of encouragement. It is certainly one of the reasons why I want to strive harder for my career, because I believe that is the only way that I can repay them for their faith in my ability.

I know that our department is the only obstacle for our Faculty's goal to be a Center for Excellence. It is because of our department's constant failure to produce satisfactory passing percentage in the Licensure exams that hinder its realization. I recognize the change in curriculum as one of the steps to improve the current quality of education that we have in ChE in the University; But recent events made me realize that this goal of Excellence is far from reach.

During my interview for the ES instructor post, I was asked by a member of the Panel. You can read the question and my answer in this post. (this particular question inspired the question about the training camp instructor in the post) This panel member was a former professor. I really admire this professor because of his intellect; I know I'm not the only one since I share this admiration with one of my former collegues from the Central Student Council. This is why, I became more dumbfounded by his set of words:

You are there to teach, not to fail to students.

That's not in verbatim though. But that's the idea.

Ha! I'd like to hear him say that to all the Chairpersons of the different professional boards in PRC! And if he's going to say that those people are examiners and not teachers; He's barking at the wrong tree!

Part of being a teacher is performing the role of an examiner. Hence, we have major exams. If teachers are required to give passing grades to all the students regardless of their performance in these exams, why are those exams administered in the first place?

Wala. Panggatong. Pang-scratch. Pambenta, singkwenta isang papel sa junkshop.

I think that more than the revamp in the ChE Curriculum, the department should look into the reboot of teaching styles and teaching principles. Take note, these are two different things. As Principles are the objective of teaching while styles are methods of teaching. As a former student, I would like to the objective to be learning and confidence building, while the style is fun and innovative, yet brain-teasing (not brain crushing).

More importantly, they should start by recognizing their board passers. It would give a confidence boost to the passers and the next takers alike, not to mention, that sense of pride that we are graduates of...

The Department...

The Faculty...

The University...

which for the record, My pride of being a graduate from these is already at the utmost pinnacle of dissipation.

Wala akong hilig sa bata. Hindi kasi ako pedophile. Pero meron akong kilalang mahilig mang-over power ng bata. Wahahhaah!

Faux Pax

Photobucket

Faux pax, when literally translated to English, means "False Peace". This is certainly what I have in my heart. Up until now, I seem to be happy with the events in my life. But in truth, it is easier to hide behind a mask, and bury my pain behind my cerebellum.

I didn't move on.

No.

I can't move on.

Not unless I hear what I needed to hear.

The truth.

The truth that he pusillanimously veiled in secret.

I act as if it didn't matter to me. I act as if it was all behind me. But when my defenses are down and my vulnerability is switched on, all feelings of anger, pain, and love all seep back to the surface.

Did he really just did everything out of revenge? Are everything he said lies? Or was eveything real but he just abruptly changed his mind? Is it because of me? My brilliance aura? Is it because he was jealous of my abilities? Is it because I'm gay and he's bi? Is it because I'm plump? Is it because he found new playmates? Is it because he's closeted promiscuous bisexual and I was a getting too close to his secret?

All I have inside are questions and conjectures. Nothing specific and accurate. That's all I can do since I was stripped of the opportunity and the power to go beyond the line of uncertainty.

I have one solemn wish. I wish that I may given one chance to finally close this book. I want break the chains that hinder my ascension to better things. I want to activate my vulnerability without being haunted by ghosts called loose ends. I want my faux pax of hiding behind a mask be replaced by the true peace of knowing the truth.

I find it sad that some people neglect the chance to close their gates. They are lucky enough to have some control over events in their lives. Especially those that will change it forever. Although gifted with the ability to change the status quo in their lives, they choose to remain in the faux pax of their created illusions.

It is understandable to fear change. Change begets change. One change can cause a chain reaction of events that eventully can be hard to control. But choosing to stop the initiation of change because of this is detestable. Everything in life is uncertain, no amount of conjecture and wishful thinking can influence the flow of events that will happen in your life. It is only through action that you make things certain.

Everything in life is a gamble, and it is only when you decide to play this game of chance that you ultimately enjoy the fruits of your gamble or you learn a life lesson from your loss.

Don't be scared to start the change. Yes, you may lose some of the reactants as the reaction progresses, but it will create new products in the process. And it is up to you if you will make the products useful for you or you dwell in the loss of your reactants.

This change is sparked by the acquisition of truth. Start with that. Eventually you will come to understand that living in your faux pax world is burdensome. And as much as it sound like a cliché: The Truth will set you free.

League of Extraordinary EC's

Shortly upon my arrival on the Medpav area, I was startled when a girl in a full white uniform called me by my nickname...

Wilberchie!

A smile emerged from my face when I immediately recognized who she was. She was a former co-staff in the CSC '09-'10. She was then the Executive Coordinator to the Vice President.

In a nutshell, an Executive Coordinator or EC is the right hand person of an Executive Board Member (EB). Each EB can have as many Executive Assistants or EA's as he/she deems necessary for him/her to properly execute his/her office but there is only one EC. This is because the EC is the de facto leader of all the EA's of the EB.

In my experience, the position of EC is crucial because the EC can function as a pseudo-EB. If there are inquiries regarding the projects spearheaded by an EB, the respective EC can answer all of it in case of the respective EB's absence. Usually in CSC projects when the respective EB spearheads a project, The EB is the Project Head and the Project director is the EC.

Back to Ms. EC to the VP, We engaged in a very lively conversation about our lives and about the time that had elapsed since our last meeting. Oh boy! It was sooooooooo fun! And right after talking to her, it made me resminisce the joyous time that I had during our short adventure in the CSC '09-'10.

For this part, I will be leaving out all the events regarding the office of the Auditor (of which I was the EC) and TP4 (which I was concurrently the project director). I will also be leaving out those EA's who were my fellow staff from the previous administration.

Out of the maximum six EC's that should have been working, I can only remember three who were actually working. Well, the office of the PRO did not need one since the PRO is one of the most extraordinary people that I know. I now baptize these Three working EC's as members of the League of Extraordinary EC's (LEECs). The members of the LEECs were as follows, in order of heirarchy of EB affiliation: Ms. EC to the VP, Mr. EC to the Treasurer, and myself, EC to the Auditor.

I first came to know them during the 1st CSC get to know circle session. I got to know them more during the 1st CSC major project which was the Thomasian Welcome Walk of that year. Ms. EC to the VP was handling the flag bearers of the different colleges; Mr. EC to the Treasurer was in the Tech booth; While I was heading the first aid pavillion as well as being a barker which entitled me to have walkie talkie. We might have been handling different functions in the program, but I think it made the 1st stepping stone of our friendship.

Throughout the course of that year, we ate together, shared jokes and laughs, shared the compulsory burden, and that made our CSC administration more fun and exciting.

I don't know if they can still remember, but there was a time that we three were sitting in our respective EB's desk doing paperwork. If I remember correctly, that was one of our busiest time, the SR week. I don't know about them, but I felt a great connection to them that time. I think it's because we were doing the same things.

>>>>Doing paperworks for projects
>>>>Doing inventory in our respective offices
>>>>Keeping records of everything about our offices
>>>>Basically keep things working smoothly for our EB's

And you know what is funny? As of today, we don't have the same political affiliation. Ms. EC to the VP is from LTC, Mr. EC to the Treasurer is from Lakas-Diwa, and I am from SIKLAB. BUt you know what? It didn't matter during our time in the CSC. We were there to be leaders, and I believe we became one to the best of our ability.

And after that CSC admnistration, we all became leaders in our own right. Ms. EC to the VP became the president of the CRS Student Council. Mr. EC to the Treasurer was still the go to guy for posters or other creative juju stuff. And moi, became a licensed Chemical Engineer and the 1st ChE Alumni of SIKLAB.

Congratulations League of Extraordinary EC's!!! You guys are soooooooooooooo...

EXTRAORDINARY!!

Brothers in Arms

an excerpt of the Chemical Engineering journey of batch 2010 boys

Wahahahhaha!!!

I was watching the 1st half of the anime series Shakugan no Shana 3 Final the other night, and I was touched by this particular scene in Episode 15. This is where the Great Flame Haze known as the Adamant Convoy, Samuel Demantius, and his Crimson Lord, Zirnitra the Aegis, made their farewells. Demantius acted as the decoy for the Flame Haze Army to escape to the Tendokyu. He single-handedly fought a whole army of Tomogaras while the rest of the army retreated. He was mortally wounded in the process. But before his final breath, he thanked his "brother-in-arms", Zirnitra, who has been his companion for six centuries and had fought together in the previous Great War. It was really touching. Being that Zirnitra is a Crimson Lord who resides in a different world and only manifest himself through the Cocytus, he is impervious to physical damage. He made his leave as to prepare for future wars, leaving Demantius to die in the place where their last mission as partners ended successfully.

Demantius

I am a member of different circles of friends. You can say I have many Brothers in Arms. But for this post, I would like to share my Brothers-in-arms during my life as a Chemical Engineering Student.

They say that you can know a person more in the battlefield than just sitting beside them. Whoever said these immortal words, I salute you. But of course let's not just isolate the world "battlefield" as a "warzone". I think that the word battle is simply analogous to "aggressive exchange". In war, it is the exchange of Trinitrotoluene powered weapons; Exchange of ideas in debates; Exchange of strategies in Trading Card games. You know what I mean. But during the period of my ChE student years, battle simply means Sentinel vs Scourge.

Defense of the Ancients or DotA was the first avenue where my now fellow Chemical Engineers and I became bonded. We developed a bond that started simply as an ally or teammate to win against the opposing team, then it grew to the friendship that we now have.

The first month of our college life was nearing its end. That was the time that some of the boys were already friends. I have a former classmate in our class that time so I was in their company. But when one of the boys asked me to join them in their game of DotA, I thought, "why not?".

I played my first DotA game with them in what used to be a Computer shop of the now Motorcycle shop below the Balay bar across the Engineering Building. It was then that I first used my Trump Character, Rylai Crestfall and the rest, as they say, is history. The history of our Chemical Engineering journey.

Since then, I have been in their company. We ate together in the then karinderia of the person we call as Mother after class, and then we played more DotA after meals. We played DotA to celebrate passing our exams; We also played DotA to relieve our stress of failing them.

The same thing happened when I was transferred to the "other" ChE section. DotA was yet again the instrument of successful communication with my new set of brothers-in-arms.

Through DotA I had come to know them more. Things that they would not normally show or tell in conversation, they constantly and unconsciously show during DotA battles. You can see those who are aggressive - excels in ambush, face off combat, greedy for first kill or most kill; those who are cautious - excels in defending, tag team partners, always with teleport scroll or boots of travel (i.e. me); those who are great support - party centered skill and build, wants a team win rather than most kill.

I also learned that they fall into these categories:

>>>>sore loser - veryinf bitter when his team loses
>>>>command center - one who barks orders to his team,
>>>>Die hard player - really serious when playing, normally a command center, then becomes a sore loser after losing
>>>>Casual player - enjoys the thrill of the game, enjoys smokes after every game
>>>>Bully Victim - VON
>>>>Bullies - Note: Plural. Always finds the time to bully Von in game.
>>>>Fated Partners - either they win together, or lose together. Normally lose haha.
>>>>Pawn - follows the Command Center's every command

One of the person I really bonded with did not graduate with us. After failing Chem 112 during the second semester of our 1st year, he did not continue the Chemical Engineering journey and went on the fork road to achieve his real dream. Well, our real dream. We both wanted to become teachers, and now he is one. An English teacher in their province. Well, for his students he maybe Mr. Co the English teacher, but for us, he is our DAGON WARRIOR, our brother in arms.

Because we play all the time, we have developed a secular lexicon for our everyday use. It is actually a mix of gameplay Jargon, as well as made up words that were given meaning because of certain events. I'm just going to list down notable ones.

Jaboy
Meaning: a unit of measure for something exponential in size
Use in sentence: I'm so hungry, I can eat a Jaboy sandwich
Etymology: Jaboy is actually a nickname of a brother in arms. It all started when his then dorm mate and our classmate told a story. Since they were in the same all male dorm, they did the erectile stretch machoism brag. Allegedly, Jaboy was the winner.
Dyosa Comment: I don't know, I'm not the type that peeks eh. That's not how I roll.

Gatiti
Meaning: short or small in size
Use in Sentence: Sayang! Nakatakas pa yung Gondar! Gatiti nalang buhay nun!
Etymology: It is in reference of the male genitalia in Filipino with the prefix ga- that means "same size".
Dyosa Comment: You be the judge why they connected the male genitalia with short.

Imba
Meaning: not balance.
Use in Sentence:Imba yung kalaban, ang lakas grabeh!
Etymology: Root word: Imbalance
Dyosa Comment: A general DotA peepz term.

bading
Meaning: someone who runs away from clashes
Use in Sentence:Bading si Kirby! Tumatakas!!!
Etymology: Filipino word that means gay
Dyosa Comment: Is this meant to insult me? wahahahah!!!

Chupa
Meaning: Life-steal
Use in Sentence:No! Chinuchupa ako ni Wilbert!
Etymology: Filipino term for Felatio. Reference from when Hesed exclaimed the exact sentence written above when I was using Pugna's Ultimate Skill against him. It was used ever since.
Dyosa Comment: AKin na lakas mo! Chupa!!! life-steal!!!

Ulti
Meaning: Ultimate Skill
Use in Sentence:Gamit na nang ulti dali!
Etymology: Every character in Dota has a fourth skill that can be accessed first after your character reach level 6. It is different for each characters.
Dyosa Comment: Might be the most shouted word ever in the history of DotA gaming.

crucial
Meaning: important
Use in Sentence:Ang crucial nung pagkabuo ko ng butterfly, dun kami kumounter.
Etymology: Look at an english dictionary.
Dyosa Comment: We also used this term when addressing major exams. Crucial Exams.

Noob
Meaning: unskilled player
Use in Sentence:Ang noob naman maglaro nung Barathrum
Etymology: Root word: newbie
Dyosa Comment: They once used this as a BUllying phrase for Von.

Chorvahin
Meaning: to kill usually by gangbang
Use in Sentence:Oi! Chorvahin nyo na yung Rylai!
Etymology: Derivative from the beki language but has a definite meaning
Dyosa Comment: They began to use it before I did, ask the boys.

Jampong
Meaning: a cute girl
Use in Sentence:Shet yung chicks o! Jampong!
Etymology: Refernece to the korean noodle dish that was marketed during that time.
Dyosa Comment: Haven't used this ever!

Push
Meaning: to press an aggressive attack
Use in Sentence:Patay lahat ng heroes! PUUUUUUSSSSHHH!!!
Etymology: It was always been used ever since we played.
Dyosa Comment: A general DotA gameplay Jargon

Beyond the friendship and camaraderie that we had with DotA, we genuinely care for each other. We fought the struggles of our Chemical Engineering journey together. We studied together. Shared information with each other. Although some of us became casualties of some subjects, but still, we pushed for the gold which was passing the subjects together.

I am very much proud to exclaim that no one in our ranks of brothers-in-arms ever resorted to cheating in exams. We may have failed our subjects but we never, and I emphasize it more, NEVER cheated. It was a do or die system for us. You'll pass if you're meant to pass. Always giving 100% of our capacity to exams.

I consider myself lucky to be part of this group of misfits. We may not be all great students like our cum laudes, but the end of the day, we are all CHEMICAL ENGINEERS regardless of our GWA.

Thank you boys. Thank you talaga.

Chemistry Review: Electron Configuration and Quantum Numbers

Note from the author: For this topic, I'm thinking that I'm sharing this information to non-ChE students. I will try to condense the topic as simple as I can for the benefit of non-ChE people. But I will include a sub-section I call ChE Noteworthy so I can provide more information targeted for ChE students. If you are a non-ChE student, you can simply skip that part. I would like to thank Asst. Prof. Virgilio Agbayani for being a superb Chem 111 professor. If not for his teaching style for this particular topic, I wouldn't even be able to recall this.

Kung nakikinig kayo sa teacher nyo nung 3rd year high school kayo, or ngayon sa Chem prof nyo dapat alam nyo na ngayon na ang atom ay generally composed of three parts: the proton, the neutron, and electron.

Yung number ng proton corresponds to the atomic number. Tapos yung sum ng number of protons and neutrons is equivalent to the atomic weight which is basically eh yung weight nung nucleus.

Sa ngayon we have four (4) orbital shape in general. These are: s, p, d, f.

Pero kaya natin ipredict or magbigay ng probability percentage of its position.

Okay. Aalamin naman natin kung pano sila nagbi-build up or basically the process of Electron Configuration.

Mukha bang weird? Pero may silbi talaga yan. Yung first letters ng mantra na yan corresponds to the suborbital filling chronology in increasing energy levels according to the Aufbau Principle.

1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p6
4s2 3d10 4p6 5s2 4d10
5p6 6s2 4f14 5d10
6p6 7s2 5f14 6d10

ChE noteworthy: Sabi ng Aufbau Principle, the electron build up into orbitals that gives the lowest total energy for the atom. Malalaman mo ang order by adding n and l, orbitals are filled up in increasing sum.

Better ask your prof about this.

Ngayon since marunong na tayo ng Electron configuration. Dapat marunong din kayo pano sya gawin in orbital notation.

We actually represent orbitals in boxes. But since medyo technically mahirap sya irepresent through text, irerepresent ko nlang yung boxes as this symbol, [].

Things to remember in orbital notation:
Orbital s p d f
Maximum electrons 2 6 10 14
Number of orbitals [] [][][] [][][][][] [][][][][][][]
In orbital notation [↑↓] [↑↓][↑↓][↑↓] [↑↓][↑↓][↑↓][↑↓][↑↓] [↑↓][↑↓][↑↓][↑↓][↑↓][↑↓][↑↓]

Kunin mo lang yung half nung maximum number of electrons nila. Bakit half?

Ca20 - [↑↓] - [↑↓] - [↑↓][↑↓][↑↓] - [↑↓] - [↑↓][↑↓][↑↓] - [↑↓] - [↑↓][↑↓][↑↓][↑↓][↑↓] - [↑↓][↑↓][↑↓] - [↑↓]
Pt78 - [↑↓] - [↑↓] - [↑↓][↑↓][↑↓] - [↑↓] - [↑↓][↑↓][↑↓] - [↑↓] - [↑↓][↑↓][↑↓][↑↓][↑↓] - [↑↓][↑↓][↑↓] - [↑↓] - [↑↓][↑↓]- [↑↓][↑↓][↑↓] - [↑↓][↑↓][↑↓] - [↑↓] - [↑↓][↑↓][↑↓][↑↓][↑↓][↑↓][↑↓] -
[↑↓][↑↓][↑↓][↑ ][↑ ]

Yung Arrows kasi represent electrons, tapos we represent the directions up and down to signify that they have different directions of electron spin.

B - [↑ ][ ][ ]
C - [↑ ][↑ ][ ]
N - [↑ ][↑ ][↑ ]
O - [↑↓][↑ ][↑ ]
F - [↑↓][↑↓][↑ ]
Ne - [↑↓][↑↓][↑↓]

So nagkaron muna lahat ng suborbital ng Up directed electrons bago nagkaron ng down directed electron. Ganyan ang proper way writing notation.

Now moving on to thelast topic, yung Quantum NUmbers. Madali lang to actually, basta alam mo lang yung last electron configuration nya. We actually have four Quantum Numbers, eto sila.

1. Principal Quantum Number - main energy level in which the electron is located.
2. Angular momentum Quantum Number - orbital number.
3. Magnetic Quantum NUmber - Suborbital number.
4. Spin Quantum Number - Direction of electron Spin.

Isummarize ko nalang yung values nya in this table:
Quantum Number Values
Principal (n) 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
Angular Momentum (l) s=0 p=1 d=2 f=3
Magnetic (ml) [ ]
0
[ ][ ][ ]
-1 0 +1
[ ][ ][ ][ ][ ]
-2 -1 0 +1 +2
[ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ]
-3 -2 -1 0 +1 +2 +3
Spin [↑ ] = +1/2 [↑↓] = -1/2

Che Noteworthy: Napansin nyo ba na yung value nung Magnetic Quantum number is -l to +l??? Ang kewl!

Bear in mind na yung Set of quantum numbers differ in very electrons dahil yun ang sinasabi ng Pauli Exclusion Principle. At ang four sets of quantum numbers na ito pertains to the last electron in the configuration. Kaya given yung last configuration ng mga elements malalaman mo yung set of quantum numbers nya.

gawin nating example ang Aluminum. ANg last configuration nya ay...
3p1

Since sya ay nasa p block, l = 1 (refer to the table above). Para sa magnetic number gawin ang orbital notation, [↑ ][ ][ ]. yung last electron ay nagfall under dun sa -1 suborbital. sa ml = -1. For the spin, upward yung direction nung huling electron kaya +1/2.

Subukan naman natin yung Chlorine:
3p5

Since sya ay nasa p block, l = 1 (refer to the table above). Para sa magnetic number gawin ang orbital notation, [↑↓][↑↓][↑ ]. yung last electron ay nagfall under dun sa 0 suborbital. sa ml = 0. For the spin, downward yung direction nung last electron kaya -1/2.

Super simple lang talaga sya. Try nyo ang Calcium at Platinum, the answers are below:

Calcium - 4s2 = 4, 0, 0, -1/2
Platinum - 5d8 = 5, 2, 0, -1/2

Syempre pwede din yung kabaliktaran, kung meron kang set of four quantum numbers pede mong mahanap yung corresponding element:

3, 0, 0, -1/2 = Na
2, 1, -1, +1/2 = B
4, 3, -1, +1/2 = U

Panis!

Adrift by Ms de Rossi

Track #1 - Echoes
Naimagine ko yung sarili ko na tumatakbo. Parang may tinatakasan. Parang isang chase scene sa isang show or movie. Gabi yung setting nya tapos may confusion kung saan pupunta tapos biglang tumatakbo nalang.

Track #2 - Trigger Happy
I saw myself na nakatayo. Kulay itim lang yung background. Tapos, kinakanta ko yung lyrics ng kanta. And I have one person in mind kung kanino ko sya kinakanta. =D

Track #3 - Wonderland
Feeling ko this song was written for me. Yung lyrics nya kasi, speaks of the words I asked myself and also the questions I asked him. A wonderful feeling that was gone abruptly and was left with questions.

Track #4 - After hours
Feeling ko nakikipagsex ako. Maharot. Magaslaw. Passionate. Umiikot sa kama. Maharaught. Period.

Track #5 - Disconcerting Ride

Track #6 - High
Face to face with an angel. Hindi ko masyadong maexplain. Pero yun yung nakita kong eksena.
Track #7 - Make it Better

Track #8 - Deep Down
Kalerkey.

Track #9 - Frozen World
Meron akong nakitang different sceneries.

Track #10 - Dream to me
This is probably my most favorite of all the songs from the album.

Track #11 - Maker
Di ko maexplain pero I imagined myself as a teacher.

Timeless ang mga katagang sinabi nya sa Letter to the Women of Malolos.

About Blind disobedience:
...that it is not goodness to be too obedient to every desire and request of those who pose as little gods, but to obey what is reasonable and just, because blind obedience is the origin of crooked orders and in this case both parties sin...

About having freewill:
...God gave each one his own mind and his own conscience so that he can distinguish between right and wrong. All are born without chains, free and no one can subject the will and spirit of another. Why would you submit to another your noble and free thought?

About believing something of one's reason:
The usual reply of those who want to fool others is this: He who depends on his own reason is arrogant. I believe that more arrogant is he who wishes to subject another’s will and dominate all men. More arrogant is he who poses as God, who pretends to understand every manifestation of God’s will. And exceedingly arrogant or blasphemous is he who attributes to God everything he says and desires and makes his personal enemies the enemies of God. We ought not to depend on ourselves solely. We should seek advice, listen to others and do what we believe to be the most reasonable...

About having one's own stand:
Ignorance is bondage, because like mind, like man. A man without will of his own is a man without personality. The blind who follows other’s opinion is like a beast led by a halter...

About caring for others:
One who wants to help himself should help others, because if he neglects others, he too will be neglected by them. One mid-rib is easy to break, but not a bundle of many mid-ribs, tied together.

About Equality of men:
Men are born equal, naked, and without chains. They were not created by God to be enslaved, neither were they endowed with intelligence in order to be misled, nor adorned with reason to be fooled by others. It is not pride to refuse worship a fellow man, to enlighten the mind, and to reason out everything. The arrogant one is he who wants to be worshipped, who misleads others, and wants his will to prevail over reason and justice.

About personal reflection:
Analyze carefully the kind of religion taught you. Find out if that is the command of God or the teaching of Christ for alleviating the suffering of the poor, for comforting those in pain. Consider everything taught you, the aim in every sermon, the underlying reason for every Mass, novena, rosary, scapular, image, miracle, candle belt, and other things that are forced upon you, dinned daily into your ears and dangled before your eyes, and discover the beginning and their end, and then compare that religion with the pure religion of Christ, and see if your Christianity is not like the milking animals or like the pig that is being fattened, nor for its own sake, but in order to see it at a price and make money out of it.

Wow, parang halos niquote ko yung buong letter. Naiintindihn ko na ngayon why he is considered to be the best among our heroes.
